The conference is a place for clinics to share their advancements and ideas with others to try to provide a better experience for patients nationwide!

What can I submit?

Abstracts should be research-based, investigative, and/or educational. Abstracts can be submitted under a broad range of categories, such as:

Clinic Operations                       Medical Education
Nutrition / Food                          Preventative Care
QI                                             Technology
Women’s Health                    SES Health Determinants
…and many more!

We are still finalizing hotel plans, but as soon as we have the hotel rooms ready, we will post them as well!

Abstract Submission Guidelines

Please follow the formatting set forth below. Abstracts which do not follow the formatting guidelines below will not be considered for acceptance to the conference.

 

  • Abstracts need to be one page or less.
  • May include up to ONE figure (Not included in the page count)
  • References can be submitted on a second page if needed (Not included in the page count)
  • All abstracts should be formatted with 12pt Times New Roman font and 1” margins. 
  • Please submit your abstract (without author information) in the text box provided on Openconf. If you have a figure or would like to submit a PDF version, once the abstract file has been made, you can go back into openconf using the submission ID to upload the file.
  • Author names and affiliations should not be included in the abstract file. However, it is not a requirement to have a fully de-identified abstract; it is acceptable to have clinic name, city, patient population, etc. included in the abstract for clarity. However, please only include these details as necessary and within reason.

Awards

This year we will be doing abstract awards. Please select if you would like your abstract to be considered for awards when submitting. Both research and QI projects will be considered. These will be awarded at the conference.

Awards will be selected in the following categories:

  • Most Innovative Idea – This award will go to the researchers who bring a project with a new idea to the table.
  • Specialty Care Achievement Award – This award will go to the researchers who have the most impactful project focusing on specialty care.
  • Design Excellence Award – This award will go to the researchers who have the most well-designed project or study.
  • Student Impact Award – This award will go to the researchers who have the most impact on student learning and advancement.
  • Patient Impact Award – This award will go to the researchers who have the most impact on patient care in the project.
  • Best Collaborative Project – This award will go to the researchers who display strong collaboration either between clinics or interprofessionally in their project.
  • Outstanding Abstract – This award will go to the researchers who submit the best overall abstracts.
  • Outstanding Oral Presentation – This award will go to the researcher who presents the best oral presentation.

 

 

Judging will occur first on the initially submitted abstracts. From here, finalists will be selected who will then be judged in person at the conference. All authors of abstracts selected for an award will receive an award certificate.

The 2023 Annual Conference of the Society of Student Run Free Clinics was held on October 21-22, 2023  in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It brought together over 400 healthcare professional students, advisors, and professors to network, collaborate, and learn about the latest research and developments in individual free clinics.
