Vision for Position
My vision for the Conference Coordinator position is to continue the wonderful foundation and success of the current SSRFC and work towards incorporating more SRFCs, students, and presenters with each coming year. I am so passionate about the work of my home SRFC and the positive impact that we have on the community. Utilizing the wealth of knowledge from other institutions, sharing our own knowledge, and building both local and national ties is the key to providing healthcare to all of our patient populations. In terms of the next SSRFC, I would love to incorporate a community-building component that allows individual SRFCs to share their impact within their local community, either through direct stories, photos, or improvement models-likely through the Whova app or social media. I also think it would be incredibly beneficial to have open points of contact for existing SRFCs that have existing clinic ideas that could be modeled in another institution. My overarching goal is to continue the successful foundation that currently exists and work towards ongoing community building within the conference structure.
Relevant Experience
I have worked with 12th Street Health and Wellness Center, my home institution’s SRFC, for the past two years and have continued to actively volunteer for the past three years. While elected to our student board as Director of Volunteer Training during M2, current Deputy Director, and Executive Director during my fourth year, I have maintained consistent SRFC leadership experience throughout my time in medical school. My duties have ranged from coordinating volunteer experiences, planning large community events for our patients, and meeting consistently with the rest of our student board for clinic updates. Earlier this month, I was the lead on our first open community event that invited out local businesses and resources to celebrate our 10-year anniversary. My skillset is geared towards planning large-scale events, community building, and continuing to contribute to the positive impact of SRFCs. Building these skills will allow me to be a successful and efficient conference coordinator.
